Pros:-Very low miles on a Ford motor that typically goes 250,000 miles. It has 84,000 verified miles on it. It was a Parks and Recreation vehicle before I bought it at auction from Bidadoo 3 years ago. It ran on natural gas CNG which burns very clean and leads to even longer engine life.
-I have about 20 years of maintenance paperwork that came with the truck.
-Starts right up even after sitting for a month. Runs very smoothly.
-Side tool boxes can hold a lot of tools and parts and are very easy to access.
-I bought 4 new tires for the truck about 2 1/2 years ago. Under 7,000 miles on these tires.
-Very comfortable cloth seats.
-I installed step rails on the sides (see pictures) so my wife can easily get into the truck.
-Wind and rain guards over the windows.
-New rear seal just installed on the automatic transmission.
-Four doors and plenty of seating in the back seat for kids or crew.
-Clean truck over all for a 25 year old vehicle
-Manual everything, so no electronics to break! Manual windows, locks, seats, and all work perfectly. A work truck that takes on no airs and doesn't have fancy stuff to break.
-Newer CD player/radio
Cons:
-TRANNY: The mechanic that put in the rear seal mentioned that the lines to the cooler looked like they might need to be replaced. I put new tranny fluid in and drove it. Perfect! I was so excited, until I notice a leak from the tranny. So, it needs two tranny lines replaced. I priced them at $59 each and watched the Youtube video. Not a big deal if you can turn a wrench. Probably a few hundred to have it done.
-AIR CONDITIONING: When I started up the truck on a hot day earlier this summer the AC was no longer blowing cold. I did recharge it a couple of years ago, so it could just be another recharge (about $149 three years ago), but I don't know. AC is not working as of now, but it was last year when I was driving it.
-Tool box lids open and close just fine, but I use a stick to keep them open, because the hydraulic struts no longer hold tool box lids open automatically. Also a cheap fix, I just didn't get to it.
-Manual windows, locks, seats, and all work perfectly. A work truck that has no fancy stuff. (if you like fancy stuff, then this is a negative)
-I covered scratches with white touch up pain and it didn't work out as well as I had hoped. Looks less invisible than I had hoped. See pictures.
-The CNG tang in the back takes up some space and while I don't think it is hooked up, I'm not sure. It runs on regular gas and that's all I know. It does run really good, but for extra space in the bed you would need to get the tank removed. It just wasn't a big deal for me.
I've driven and loved Ford vans and trucks all my life. I have had great luck with the 5.4 gas engine and that is a big part of why I bought this one. I have about $8,000 in this truck over the last 3 years. The tranny needs the 2 lines replaced and I have about 7 quarts of tranny fluid to finish the job (they come with the truck). I have three trucks and my wife said one needs to go, so I'm keeping my F250 with the 7.3 liter diesel, and the Nissan with the 4 liter V6. I want to keep this one too, but at 65 years old I'm finding it harder to work under a truck.
At $2,400 this truck is a steal. I purchased it 3 years ago with bad tires for $5,800, but the tranny was working. I charged up the AC and put 4 new tires on, added rails to make getting into the truck easier for my wife, and wind and rain covers over the tops of the windows. I've put a little under 7,000 miles on it and other than the tranny loosing fluid it has done me good. I bought it for $5,800, so for Buy it Now $2,400 you're getting quite the deal! A truck to drive for the next 5 or 10 years.
NO RESERVE, so whatever person bids over $1,200.00 will take the truck (I promised my wife it would be gone). Take a risk and bid low to get a crazy deal, or just Buy it now and get a steal for certain.
You will need to get it towed, because the leak on the tranny lines is just took much, but it isn't that heavy and can be towed pretty easily. It is a rear wheel drive, not a 4 wheel drive (better gas mileage).
The truck is 25 minutes out from Las Vegas, 1 mile from Creech Air Base. (By the sticker on the back of the truck you'll know I'm former US Air Force.)
